Nap time!!

So Annalise has been in a toddler bed for about a month now. She has been doing great with a few rough nights here and there. However this week has not been so good. She does not want to stay in her bed. I read her stories, sing her a song, say goodnight, and she gets right out of bed. She finds every excuse in the book, milk....milk....more milk.........Mommy, jesus beam (which means Sunbeam song)......jesus beam, (cry cry cry, fake cry, cry).

When she got her big girl bed I also got her a gate for her room, because I didn't want her to feel like she was locked in her room with her door shut. But I also didn't want her wandering around the house when she is supposed to be sleeping. So today she started sleeping in her doorway for her nap......whats a mom to do? I hope this is a phase.....

She cracks me up! I hope it is a phase for your sake. I seem to remember going through one like it. I would wake up when my Dad did early in the morning. And when he went into the bathroom to take a shower I would lay on the floor in front of the door. I liked how the breeze felt. Every morning he would nearly kill himself stepping over me, and he would carry me back to bed. I seem to remember growing out of that one since I don't still stalk the bathroom. :) good luck though!

Kelsey... we are going through the same thing with Ayden. At least your smart enough to gate the door. Sean and I both sleep light so we can hear him getting out of bed and night and sometimes we have to put him back 3 or 4 times... Its nuts! If you find out a magic solution please fill us in!

Thankfully it does stop---for the most part. Occasionally I'll have a kid end up on the floor of our bedroom, but for the most part they stay in bed. It just takes them getting used to the idea that they don't get complete freedom just because they can move around now. Good luck! Hopefully she'll get the habit of sleeping in her room down real quick. :)

Maybe she's just a little afraid of her big girl bed. Maybe she's afraid she'll fall out. What about putting the mattress on the floor for awhile?
